When they say you trade in your 30+ gear, do you still keep the gear? Or do you have to level it from scratch again?

Also, do you need to go through the whole 50 floors each time you want a new ilevel 235 weapon?

You trade in a fully levelled item (30 & 30) for a weapon (i-level 235) and then have to start from scratch again. At the moment all you can get from it is 235 weapons

You turn in the gear for the weapon.

Youll have to go through multiple full runs of potd to get the weapon.

Hmm, do you have to use the same class all the way through?

From 1-50 you must retain the same job. Once you "reset your progress," you can change jobs. You will retain your gear level, but you can now be a different job.

Once you turn in a 30/30 gearset, you are reset to a 0/0 gearset.

Yes and no. You can't change the class assigned to a save slot without deleting the slot, and with it your floor progress(which you have to do after clearing 50 anyway, to stay a new run) . But your aether pool gear keeps its level. And you have two slots, which share the aether pool levels, but can be distention classes.
And it doesn't matter which job you run it as far as which weapon you get. The weapon is determined by the job you're on when you turn in the gear for the weapon.

i.e. run thing as entire whm. Get to 30/30. Change to bard, turn in and get bow.

No. You have two save slots. I have found (before 3.4) that the quickest way to level your gear is 1-10 on one job, then 1 - 10 on another, follow with 11 - 20 twice, etc.

BUT on each save slot one job onry or abandon and start at floor 1. Your progress on the gear will carry over.
