You need to have a Haven Play Pass to access any swimming, activities, or evening entertainment on site.

There could be two reasons you don’t have Passes yet, either:

  • You decided to pay a little less when first booking and picked a Hideaway break, or
  • You booked directly with a caravan owner through a third party letting site, such as Airbnb or booking.com

However, just because you don’t have one yet, doesn’t mean you cannot get one.

Here’s how to book passes and how much they cost.

What happens if you don’t have a Play Pass?

If you booked directly with a private caravan owner or a Hideaway, you are solely getting to use the caravan as a base.

Although, you’re still within a short drive to attractions off-site and usually within walking distance to a beach. It’s an opportunity to explore the local area, rather than using any of the main facilities or swimming pool on site. So, while you’d save money on the passes, you may find yourself spending a lot more in other places.

You can still use the restaurants, arcades, and outside play areas on the resort and order takeout on a Hideaway holiday. Plus, you can shop in the mini-mart and use the laundrette, if you need.

It works out cheaper upfront to book a break without fun passes, but if you later change your mind, you’d need to add on the price of the entertainment passes. However, overall, it is cheaper to book the passes in advance when booking the main break.

What do you get with Play Passes?

A Haven resorts holiday is jammed packed with things to do from the moment you step on-site – as long as you booked passes.

As well as your holiday home, you also get:

  • access to indoor and outdoor swimming pools, flumes and slides, depending on the site
  • access to all entertainment venues and arcades – this includes daytime activities and night time entertainment and shows
  • ability to pre-book all free (and paid) activities for the whole family

Reading that back, it almost doesn’t sound like a lot, but I promise, the activities and facilities are fantastic.

You can do archery, climbing wall, biking classes, fencing, segway, arts and crafts, crazy golf, nature trails, arcade, mini sports, bungee trampolines – and this is just the start of the list!

Be conscious that some activities must be booked in advance, carry an additional charge, and are subject to availability. Find out more about how to book Haven activities.

The prices for passes all depend on when and where you’re going.

A holiday park with a lot more facilities, top-class swimming pools, and more going on at their entertainment venues will cost you more.

Prices are based on adults and children staying, with a maximum cap on how much could be charged per 2 or 3 bed caravan.

The maximum price for passes is £424 for a week’s break in the height of the kid’s holidays in one of the best Haven parks. That works out to be from £7.57 per person a day for all the entertainment and swimming sessions you can handle.

Remember, it could also be as little as £189, depending on how many guests are staying (£3.38 per person/day).

Here’s what the prices look like in 2023.

How to purchase a Play Passes

You can book a pass online or over the phone directly from Haven.

If you booked a Hideaway break, use your booking reference and surname on the app or website.

However, if you booked with a private owner, they should register that you are arriving directly with the park. You will get an email and then book them online, which can usually be done from up to four weeks of your visit.

You should not buy passes from private owners or letting agents – they are not genuine printed passes with your name. Only get them from Haven to avoid getting them confiscated.

Alternatively, you can purchase the pass directly from the park reception when you arrive.

For private stays, ask them for a copy of the “Play Pass purchase form” and their details and plot number to enable you to purchase them. This will either be emailed or posted to you, or a paper copy left in your caravan on your arrival.

A word of warning, passes and activities are limited and subject to availability, so it may be better to consider booking them well in advance. If you wait within four weeks of your holiday, some activities may be fully booked.

A second word of warning – it’s very busy at reception on a change over day, and you will likely have to queue for some time. So, it might be worth waiting a few hours or just get them online earlier.

Final tips

One final tip, if you do go for passes for your family, it’s worth investing in a lanyard for the kids.

The pass itself is credit card sized, and while you may keep it in your bag, children won’t lose theirs if it’s with them.

You can buy character lanyards in the supermarket on the park.

Now, the only thing you have left to do is pack! Hopefully, this caravan holiday checklist will help!

Haven entertainment pass FAQs

What is a Stay + Play pass?

How long is a Play Pass valid for?

Your Play Passes will be valid from the date of your arrival and cover all your entertainment until when your holiday ends.

Can you get a Day Pass for Haven?

Haven does not offer a day pass for guests in their parks. You have the option of either a 3, 4 or 7 night pass to access the facilities.

What is a Funworks Pass?

Funworks Passes no longer exist and won’t get you access to any pools, activities or entertainment venue. They have been renamed Play Passes.
