Level Requirement | Disciple of War or Magic level 81 |
---|---|
Item Level Requirement | - |
Number of Participants | 1 to 4 Players |
Time Limit | 60 minutes |
Character Growth
Players will start Eureka Orthos at level 81 regardless of their current class or job level. By defeating monsters that appear in the dungeon, players will be able to gain EXP and level their characters up to 90. Your Eureka Orthos level is not directly related to your level outside of the dungeon.
Dungeon EXP
All enemies players encounter in Eureka Orthos will give a fixed amount of EXP regardless of the number of members in your party or the difference in level between you and the enemy. Rested experience and experience bonuses will also be ignored.
Actions
There will be no adjustments to or restrictions on any actions, additional actions, or statuses. However, players must first reach the required level in the dungeon to have access to them. Players will even have the opportunity to gain actions and statuses above their current level regardless of whether or not they have completed the necessary class or job quests.
* Please note that players who have entered the deep dungeon with a class will be restricted from using any job actions.
Orthos Aetherpool Gear
Players will be restricted to the use of an Orthos aetherpool arm and Orthos aetherpool armor when inside Eureka Orthos. In addition to gaining levels, players must enhance these items as they progress through the dungeon. Note that Orthos aetherpool armor will take the appearance of your current gear upon entering the instance.
* Normal gear has no effect on your character's attributes inside Eureka Orthos.
* Orthos aetherpool gear progress in Eureka Orthos is tracked separately to that of aetherpool gear in other Deep Dungeons.
Strengthening Orthos Aetherpool Gear
Orthos aetherpool gear can be enhanced by accessing silver coffers. These coffers appear randomly on each floor and after defeating certain enemies. When enhancing gear, there is a chance of failure that varies depending on the current level of your gear and the floor where the silver coffer is found. Orthos aetherpool gear can be enhanced to a maximum strength of +99. In the event the strength of your Orthos aetherpool gear exceeds the maximum allowed by your current level, its attributes will be synced.
Gear Durability and Spiritbonding
Orthos aetherpool gear is not subject to durability loss, nor can it gain spiritbond when inside Eureka Orthos.
* This also applies to any gear equipped upon entering the instance.
Special Items
Protomanders
Players will, on occasion, obtain protomanders from treasure chests within Eureka Orthos. These items have various uses ranging from displaying the entire map of your current floor, to providing party members with beneficial effects. Up to three of each protomander can be held at any time. These items can be found in a shared inventory to be used by all party members.
* Normal items such as potions can still be used independently of this shared inventory.
Protomanders cannot be taken outside of Eureka Orthos. When in a matched party, they cannot be used after the completion of a set of floors. Protomanders that affect the map cannot be overwritten with the same item when their effect is already in play. Please note, however, that they will still be consumed upon use.
How to Obtain
Gold coffers dropped by enemies or found in the dungeon may contain protomanders.
Demiclones
Players will, on occasion, obtain tomestones from treasure coffers in Eureka Orthos, which can be used to generate demiclones. These items can be used by all party members once acquired. Up to three tomestones can be held at any time. These items can be found in a shared inventory to be used by all party members. Tomestones cannot be taken outside of the deep dungeon. When in a matched party, they will be reset each time you enter the dungeon.
Demiclones will follow and fight alongside the player who generated them. Each demiclone has unique strengths, so choose carefully to turn the tides in your favor.
How to Obtain
There is a small chance to obtain tomestones when opening silver coffers dropped by enemies or found in the dungeon.
Progression
Moving to Lower Floors
Floors are generated at random, and players may only progress by locating and activating the Pylon of Passage on each floor. These pylons have three phases, and will always be inactive when arriving at a new floor. Before the pylon can be fully activated, players must defeat the enemies that appear on the floor. As the phases progress, the color of the stone's map icon will change, and the perimeter around the pylon will glow when it becomes fully activated.
Resurrection
In addition to resurrection items and actions, players can use a Pylon of Return to raise all KO'd players. These pylons, like the Pylon of Passage, have three phases of activation and can only be used when fully activated. The pylon will be inactive when arriving at a new floor. Players must defeat the enemies that appear on the floor before the pylon can be fully activated. As the phases progress, the color of the pylon's map icon will change, and the pylon itself will glow when it becomes fully activated.
Traps and Floor Effects
As players progress, they will arrive at floors with traps that will be set off when walked across. These traps are invisible unless a player has a special item which can reveal their locations. In addition to traps, some floors have the below effects which may benefit or provide some challenge to the player's ability to progress:
Status Effects
Some floors may inflict detrimental or beneficial statuses on players.
Prohibited Magic or Special Actions
Some floors may prohibit certain actions.
Floor Effect: Gloom
Some floors may have strengthened enemies.
Dread Beasts
As players progress, dread beasts may appear on certain floors. Defeat these powerful monsters to temporarily gain their strength.
Navigation Map
A special navigation map will be displayed, which can be used to progress through the rooms on a given floor. When any party member enters a room on the floor, the map will automatically update. The icons for the Pylon of Return and the Pylon of Passage will appear in their location on the map.
* Players can display or hide the map by pressing the M key. This is the same key for the Hold button to lock the map in position.
* The default navigational map will not be displayed in Eureka Orthos.

Treasure Coffers
There are three types of treasure coffers which will randomly appear somewhere on the floor at the same time as enemies. While most of these coffers will give players various benefits, some will have traps, such as surprise enemy attacks.
Gold Coffers
Gold Coffers may yield protomanders. The coffer will remain even if these items already exceed the inventory limit.
Silver Coffers
Silver Coffers may strengthen aetherpool arms and armor or contain tomestones. However, there is a possibility that the strengthening effects will not take hold even if players' weapons and gear are not at maximum level. Opening these coffers will have no effect if the players' weapons and gear are at their maximum level of strength. Weapons and armor are strengthened separately, and one or the other will be randomly selected for each player.
Bronze Coffers
Bronze Coffers may yield normal items such as potions or Orthos aetherpool fragments, which can be exchanged for special items with the synthesis node in Mor Dhona (X:34.9 Y:19.0).

The Accursed Hoard
While exploring Eureka Orthos, players will, on occasion, discover hidden treasure known as the Accursed Hoard. Upon saving progress and exiting Eureka Orthos, players can take this treasure to Valeroine in Mor Dhona (X:34.9 Y:19.1) to have it appraised and discover what lies within.

Uncovering the Accursed Hoard
Players must remain stationary at the location where the treasure is hidden for a fixed period of time for the coffer to be uncovered.
Before the Accursed Hoard can be discovered, players must first use the protomander of intuition to reveal its location on the map.
Locating the Accursed Hoard
While a protomander of intuition is in effect, an icon on the navigation map will indicate the presence of a piece of the Accursed Hoard.
Leaving Eureka Orthos
If all party members are KO'd inside Eureka Orthos, they will be removed from the instance.
* Unlike other dungeons, players cannot choose to return to the floor entrance if they are KO'd.
This passage delves into the mechanics of Eureka Orthos, a challenging dungeon within Final Fantasy XIV. It details the intricacies of character progression, gear limitations, special items like Protomanders and Demiclones, floor navigation, treasure coffers, and the Accursed Hoard. Let's break down the concepts covered:
-
Level Requirement and Character Growth: Players start at level 81 and can level up to 90 within Eureka Orthos regardless of their job or class outside the dungeon. The dungeon's level isn't directly related to the character's level outside.
-
Dungeon EXP: All enemies in Eureka Orthos offer fixed EXP regardless of party size or level difference.
-
Actions and Orthos Aetherpool Gear: Players gain access to actions and statuses based on their level within the dungeon. Orthos aetherpool gear must be enhanced by accessing silver coffers.
-
Special Items: Protomanders provide various benefits and are obtained from treasure chests. Demiclones, generated using tomestones, fight alongside players and possess unique strengths.
-
Progression: Floors are randomly generated, and progression requires activating the Pylon of Passage by defeating enemies. Pylons also facilitate resurrection (Pylon of Return).
-
Traps, Effects, and Navigation: Floors may contain traps, status effects, prohibitions, or strengthened enemies (Gloom). Dread Beasts might appear, granting temporary strength upon defeat. A navigation map aids in floor traversal.
-
Treasure Coffers: Three types—Gold, Silver, and Bronze—contain various items, with Gold Coffers yielding protomanders, Silver enhancing gear or providing tomestones, and Bronze yielding normal items or fragments for exchange.
-
The Accursed Hoard: A hidden treasure discovered during exploration. Valeroine in Mor Dhona appraises it, but players must use the protomander of intuition to reveal its location.
-
Leaving Eureka Orthos: If all party members are KO'd, they're removed from the instance without the option to return to the floor entrance.
This detailed breakdown helps players strategize their approach, understand gear progression, leverage special items, navigate floors effectively, and anticipate challenges within Eureka Orthos in Final Fantasy XIV.
